Amanda Hanks
Sales Representative, Southern Mississippi
About Amanda
What do you do at MPIC?
I am the Sales Representative for the south region of the state. It is my responsibility to make sure that our customers have the items that they need when they need them!
What are your credentials/education/experience for working in your position?
I spent the last 9 years working for a local chamber of commerce where I wore many hats. Over my years in that position, I went from working the front desk, sales and marketing, and membership sales. I think that this helped me to understand different positions and how each and every position is important for a company to be efficient. I know that I would not be able to be successful in my position as Sales Representative if it weren’t for our guys working in the shop, our customer service reps, the guidance from my direct boss and every other position throughout our company.
What is something people in your industry must deal with that you want to fix?
One thing I feel very passionate about in this industry is helping offenders’ transition back into society after they have been released. I think one of the hardest things for them to face is the gap between being released and being stable and back on their feet. I think MPIC is doing a great job at trying to fill this gap.
What do you like about working at MPIC?
I am new at MPIC but I already feel like part of the family here. Everyone on staff has made me feel so welcome. My favorite part about working at MPIC is that we get to work with a mission every single day. Even though you are working, you get to see the mission behind the job and that makes getting up each day worth it!
What’s your background?
I have been a Rankin County resident for my entire life. I love the sense of “small-town community” that Rankin county offers, without being a tiny town.
Favorite Quote:
“But as you excel in everything—in faith, speech, knowledge, in all
earnestness, and in our love for you—see that you excel in the act of grace also.” 2 Corinthians 8:7
What are the values that drive you?
Honesty and integrity are huge values that I think are important in every aspect of life, not just in your career. I believe that if people know you are honest then it helps build a relationship of trust. I am also a firm believer in grace.
Your top favorite Podcasts/Books?
My favorite book is Lean In by Sheryl Sandberg and my favorite podcast to listen to are any true crime podcasts. I also love to listen to comedian Heather McMahan!
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
My favorite thing to do when I am not working is to be with my friends and family. I spend a lot of time in Bassfield, MS at our family land during the winter and a lot of time at Reservoir in the summer!
