About Donte

What do you do at MAGCOR?

I serve as the Central Mississippi Reentry Coordinator.  My responsibilities are to assist formerly incarcerated individuals to successfully transition back into their communities and society.

What are your credentials/education/experience for working in your position?

I have a Master’s in Education.  I currently have a teacher’s certification in the state of Mississippi and have taught history and coached middle school football in the past.  I gained my passion for reentry after teaching GED and coordinating release preparation courses in the federal prison system.

What is something people in your industry must deal with that you want to fix?

Part of my job is to secure employment opportunities for released individuals.  I am hopeful that businesses will continue to give released individuals the opportunity to prove themselves again and not look at the mistakes of their past.  My experience has been that ex-offenders are hard workers and just want a second chance at life.

What do you like about working at MAGCOR?

I enjoy working with a group of co-workers who have diverse professional backgrounds and a heart to help incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals succeed.

What’s your background?

I am a native of Memphis, Tennessee and came to Mississippi in 1999 on football scholarship to Jackson State University.  I currently reside with my wife and son in Madison, Mississippi.
